Yep, DCUM assumes the teacher left voluntarily- could be a personal or family health issue. |
Then she could’ve taken a leave of absence or medical leave. Quitting is different. OP said she quit. |
| I don’t blame her/him. Not worth the stress with the bad pay. |
This is what happens when parents treat teachers on the whole like trash. No, I’m not talking about you personally. Bonus points for the jackass parents who love to bleat “if you don’t like it, QUIT!”
|
No. It’s a job and they can quit whenever they like. |
Yawn. Cope harder. |
People can have health issue and quit. LOA is not the only option (especially since you can’t work in ANYTHING teaching related - even part-time), for the entire year. And if she is fine health-wise and quit then it must be BAD. Teachers (and other professions) must prioritize themselves over their jobs. It is not indentured servitude. |
+1, with parents like PP making their lives miserable, I don’t blame them. |
| Teaching is a job. Teachers are people. VA is a right-to-work state. Anyone can leave their job at anytime. Teachers don’t “owe” anything to the students. |
|
OP I would not be happy either.
But I know a lot of teachers. They are effing TIRED. She may not be getting the support she needs from the school district. I’d try to find out more and then hammer county leadership about caring about retention. |
| Teachers had enough to put up with when it was just admin or the central office or the lack of adequate support for sped kids etc etc, but now that it's also lots and lots of parents piling on, insulting them, blaming them for everything covid related, accusing them of not caring about the kids, well, I guess it might just be that straw that broke the camel's back for a lot of teachers. |
One of ours quit when she left her abusive husband. She left the area. |
That's atrocious. |
She choose to quit. Who knows why but you are not entitled to demand she return. This is a job. |
Then the parents whine and moan when teachers quit. Make up your minds. |
