Yes! And for younger teens there are a lot of Counselor in Training programs, some are even paid. |
| Also check with your local city or county government. Many have summer internship and job programs for high school and college students. |
| Minimum wage in DC goes up to $16.50 per hour on July 1st! |

My suggestion: look close to home. There are probably to a of grocery stores and retail jobs within a 5-10 minute drive.
It doesn’t have to brain surgery or high status. In fact, that is the point. Do a “regular” job for at least a summer. |
Thanks for this. My son did look into the DC summer jobs program with the city but they posted the hourly rate around $9/hr which he thought seemed unfair since DC has a much higher hourly rate mandated by the city. I also can’t quite figure that one out! |
They literally get paid to stand around. $9/hr is plenty. |
| I worked at a restaurant in between freshman and sophomore year of college and banked 10k- that didn’t include the money I spent throughout the summer. This was in 2010 in Arlington. I was making great money for a college kid especially compared to those 10 dollar an hour jobs. But need to apply ASAP. |
