5th grade with a friend
needs to work on friendship skill if he doesn't have 1 friend |
Friendship skills? This is random and irrelevant to OP’s question. |
| My 12 year old takes a metro by himself and goes into any museum he wants. Are you people for real when you say "15 or 16"? No wonder there are so many infantile HS students in this country. |

You want a cookie? |

13. Younger if they are with a couple of friends and you know they won't wander off with someone.
As a non profit staff member who works in a similar environment, some people with nothing better to do sometimes hang out in public spaces and watch for the naive. |
You need a reading comprehension intervention, stat. |
You need a manners class, stat. |
Exactly, but they think that others don’t. |
| I think 12 and the 'Americans infantilize their kids' poster is insufferable. |

Age 11-12
Prefer with a friend but that would be ok for me at that age. |
| In 5th grade we would take a group and they would periodically check in. A parent would be in the same building and they wouldn’t be alone, always with friends. |
Yes, that poster gave me the creeps. |
The only place mine ever had issues was eating, because they would buy too much in places like National History Museum and not realize how expensive everything was they put on those trays until they got to the cashier. The boys never got into mischief anywhere else but rang up some big food bills when they were around 11. |
| I think 10 if they were with another responsible, like-minded friend. Totally solo, I'd say 11 or 12, depending on child and their comfort level |
