Not to hijack, but to me about why we'd need a car. I figured we'd uber?

I’m the poster who lives here and this hotel is in nowheresville SoCo surrounded by a million autozones. Also not an area I would walk at night. You need a car or a drivers first name and number.

You can uber everywhere just fine. You might prefer it if drinking too. I recommend drinks at the W or thr Driskill bar. A visit to zilker botanic gardrns is doable by riding a scooter from soco.

+1. I used to live in ATX. 5 days sounds like a lot unless you're visiting family. Definitely get a car and use that car to spend a day in the hill country west of ATX. There are a number of amazing state parks that you and the family will love - Perdernales, Enchanted Rock, Hill Country State Natural Area, etc. Blanco, Fredericksburg, and/or Johnson City are all worth a drive.

In the city, you will still need a car as a lot of the sites are spread out.
