if you are around 60, how is your hearing?

Anonymous
I’m 62 and I think my hearing is still pretty good. Except in noisy restaurants when I find myself doing the smile and nod thing because I can’t hear conversation well at all. That’s one plus of the pandemic, so many fewer times I’ve been in a crowded restaurant.

My concern about hearing aids is how they feel in your ears. I can only wear air pods for about an hour before they annoy too much.

I had the same issue about ten years ago when I tried a hearing aid and it was too annoying to wear. My current hearing aid is very light and unobtrusive. I don't even notice it once it's in.

What?

Lol you don’t need a hearing aid, you need bigger fonts!

PP what kind do you have now? My mom has the same complaint about her older hearing aids and doesn't believe new ones would be better.

I paid about $700 for mine after whatever insurance covered.

I’m 59 and my hearing is good, but I also encourage you to please go for the hearing aids if you need them. My DH is getting deaf and refuses to even consider it. He misses so much. He’ll respond when I tell him something, but then later it becomes obvious that he didn’t really hear me. At first I thought he was getting dementia, but then I figured out that he’s just guessing at what I’m saying half the time. Or he’ll keep asking me to repeat myself and then gets offended when I shout at him. It has hurt our relationship —we never used to argue.
