Sorry, is the idea here supposed to be that because we live near an airport that’s been here since before most of our houses were built, we should get to decide how the airport operates? That’s absurd.
Also a Ward 3 resident, but one who thinks airplane noise is just part of life in a big city |
| What do homeless people, reckless commuters, illegal guns and airplane noise all have in common? Virginia loves to dump them all on DC. |
Go grow a brain, please. |
| where are they going to direct it? There is already tons of airline noise over residential areas in VA because most planes fly along the river to the west and then make a turn right over the residential parts of NOVA. What will change, can it get worse? It's already pretty bad, many residential areas even miles inland from the river are already under this highway in the sky where planes fly in a line one after another every minute and this lasts for hours every day. Some days are worse than others, some days they seem to direct it differently, but I don't see VA coming ahead Amazon or not. |
| Rosslyn already has tall buildings and yet tons of planes fly west over Potomac unimpeded. Are they trying to send more planes this way because they cannot direct them inland towards VA right away over Chrystal City/Pentagon? It would be a nightmare if all traffic goes west along the Potomac, so many neighborhoods will get no breaks: Palisades, residential Arlington, Georgetown and Mclean. Even miles inland you won't get breaks because planes have to turn inland after flying along the river and they tend to turn them in specific locations along the same paths. |
I'm laughing but a little concerned that you think these issues originated in VA. DC is the problem. You really think your crime problem is because of illegal guns? It's the PEOPLE you don't care to develop into contributing members of society that are the cause of your crime problem. They wouldn't pick up a gun if you educated them, supported their Moms and gave them after-school programs that keep them out of trouble. Commuters? Try carjackers. Now that's a problem. Hire more police to arrest them and DAs who will prosecute them. Homeless people? Get them help and off the street. I guarantee they didn't stroll across the 14th street bridge for the culture. DC coddles the homeless instead of getting them off drugs and out of their tent cities like they should. But - you don't want to elect leaders who will do those things. So you're stuck with spineless, corrupt officials who drag DC further into the deep end of the cesspool. |
