What is your toddler crying about today?

He can’t go on a boat/we can’t get a hippo in our house/he has to hold hands walking outside.

The cat wouldn’t eat the veggie straw she tried to force into his mouth

This is so familiar. Today: I wouldn’t let her change her baby brother’s diaper or wear her star shirt (she doesn’t have a star shirt).

DD started cryin because I couldn’t make the helicopter in the sky overhead come back.

Mine cried today because I left a string on his banana.

I see a lot of banana related incidents lol

I’m the string on the banana PP. Other reasons he’s cried this weekend:
- I wouldn’t carry him downstairs (he’s my third and I already carry him way too much because it’s easier, but I’m trying to instill a little independence. He is not having it).
- The pants I picked for him to wear were the wrong ones.
- He wasn’t allowed to retrieve a fork off the floor in a restaurant.
- He wasn’t allowed to touch a dead bird in the yard.

So mine is 4 and not a toddler anymore but I guess was having some kind of exhaustion-induced regression because we were at a restaurant for lunch and after refusing to eat anything except potato chips and a granola bar I found in my purse, she lost her sh!t completely when our lovely waitress cleared the bar wrapper from the table with our plates. She wanted to throw it away.

It’s been a while since I had to carry a wailing child rapidly out if a restaurant in my arms, but I guess I’ve grown as a person because 2 years ago this would have thrown off our whole day and filled me with embarrassment and today I just took it in stride and moved on with the day as though it never happened. Growth!

I'm the first banana poster and all these incidents make me feel SO MUCH better. If DD can't peel it exactly the way she wants to and eat it whole, the WORLD IS OVER.

I am so glad to know that other toddlers find bananas so triggering.
