What I don't understand is all the changes without explanation. It makes it difficult to plan your summer travel and childcare. Last year we had to choose between losing a lot of money on a vacation or missing the first week of school. No explanation. Also, this is the first year that anyone has actually bothered to tell parents this in any way prior to the start of summer. Which I guess is progress. |
Saint Marys is probably opening later due to the schedule construction this summer. |
First of all, it took way too long for them to decide the calendar for the fall. It’s not rocket science. People were trying to plan camps, etc. What unknown, complex variables were they waiting to firm up exactly? Musk’s Twitter deal?
Second, given that the change deviates from prior years by 1-2 weeks, a simple explanation would have been nice. They likely send out plenty of emails asking for money/donations; a quick explanation about the change (or at least a warning) would have been welcome too. (I don’t even go to this school, but as a private school parent, I sympathize with the frustration. Nothing worse than entitled, secretive school administrators. The worst). |
At a different school but we haven't even received next year's calendar yet. |
Nothing worse than entitled, complaining, overly critical parents. The worst |
This kind of cranky parent moaning is why teachers are leaving in droves. Volunteer to assist with the calendar or shut up and be patient. |
Tons of east coast schools - public, private, parochial - do that. Otherwise it’s last week of august. No early august like in south and out west. |
Yeah, parents only pay the freakin bill. Why should they matter? This attitude is exactly why the US education system SUCKS — your choice is either failing public schools or overpriced/snotty/unresponsive private ones. Classic monopolized industry with sh*t service. |
Says the person who probably writes negative reviews on Amazon and complains to the manager in every other context. But education admin and teachers are special and sacred — we mustn’t offend them or insist on decent performance. |
Moco Christian school here. We are starting in August but the reality is they all go 180 days….doesn’t matter when they start. |
Your gross. Never would I do such a thing and neither should you. Teachers and admin are not there to serve you. Their job is to teach children. You are the problem |
They are not service people. Get it through your head. They're job is to provide an education. That's it. |
Sounds like you should open a school or teach for awhile. You can do sooo much better since you know how it should be done. Make it a parents first system that caters specifically to those who belive they are entitled to service. Report back. |
If that is the case, it would have been great to say that, just like they said in 2020, we need another week to get things ready to have the kids back to school in a Covid-safe environment. Instead, there is a note in the weekly newsletter which just says, school starts on this date. A date which is different than it had been for years pre-covid. |
You have four months to find child care. I don’t see the problem. I can see why starting earlier can disrupt long-standing vacation problems, but this is not ending the summer early. |
