Are you digisexual?

When this revolution comes to pass, men will realize they don't need women at all. ("A robot that doesn't nag, doesn't treat me with contempt, doesn't spend my money, is supermodel hot, and is always available for great sex? Count me in!") Shortly after that, I predict women will mount a crusade to have such robots banned, because the very idea of "men enjoying themselves" is anathema to modern American women.

^Attractive, well-adjusted people don’t have to resort to virtual sex. Even if all the losers hopped on VR not much will change for healthy people.

I think there’s WAY too much potential for it to become addicting and interfere with people’s abilities to have normal relationships, something we’ve already seen happening because of porn and social media.

I also think it’s very sad that we’re viewing sex more and more as a resource that people (mostly men) consume, rather than a mutually pleasurable experience.

DH here. I have pretty low drive, my wife has very high. She also likes all kinds of fantasy stuff whereas I am plain vanilla. We have a great family, three little kids, are best friends. She bridges the desire gap with her occulus and various toys. I don’t care, I don’t consider it cheating, I’m the one she loves and wants to be married to.

You think I should divorce her over THIS?

I think you should divorce if you can not satisfy your significant others sexual needs

Well-adjusted unattractive people will be okay too. It will be like most entertaining tech: sounds good, but doesn’t really help mental health or the advancement of our species, just the instantaneous dopamine hits make it feel good.

All the husbands of women on DCUM are attractive and well-adjusted (just not attractive to their wives any more) but at least VR offers them an alternative to the three choices inevitably offered to them when they complain about dead bedrooms (divorce, cheat, celibacy).

Cool, so the attractive, well-adjusted, healthy people won’t use this.

Where can I invest?

Yeah sounds like 90% of the population will be using it and only 10% won't be. Big untapped market!
