Expectant and Postpartum Moms
Mine too. First I heard of it was our peds giving us a handout telling us they strongly discouraged it as it was linked to failure-to-thrive. |
| Wow...I'm glad to see that this book is getting the negative press it deserves. Someone gave it to me when I was struggling with my high-needs and colicky infant, and reading it just made me feel like a failure for using attachment parenting methods. New mom that I was, I was really worried that AP-ing--and do nearly everything that Babywise condescendingly prohibits--was going to scar my kid for life. I ended up sticking to my guns, and I now have a very happy, healthy, well-behaved toddler. Certainly not saying AP is for everyone, but for me, reading Babywise made me really question my instincts in a way that caused more harm that good. |
| www.ezzo.info has a lot of information about the various concerns associated with Babywise and Gary Ezzo. I recommend that anyone considering implementing Babywise methods go to this website first. From the website: "In addition to controversy over the content of their books, there is also controversy over the Ezzos' lack of accountability, bad behavior and history of broken church, professional and family relationships, which seem curiously incompatible with the message of their books." |
| The book is complete garbage. |
