Some Subaru dealerships do rentals, both short and long-term. You need to call around and be willing to go up to 100+ miles to pick it up.

Subarus - with all their safety tech - are great cars for teens.

You'll probably need to negotiate for a multi-month lease. Not sure if they would rent to a teen. That said, you could give teen your car and then drive the rental. That would minimize costs, given the rental surcharges for young drivers.

In this market, you'd be better off buying something that has depreciated as much as it's going to and then reselling it. I'd be looking at late model Japanese sedans with a lot of miles


No OP, but I like this idea for my teen. What would you consider to be high miles but not too many? A Nisson Altima w/ 130k?

I like subarus too but having been car shopping lately, most manufacturers offer all the current safety features standard nowadays.
