how many cm diluated minimum they will give you epidural?

In terms of being too early to get one, you could get one later. That said, with my first I was 3 cm 10 days before she was born. When I checked in I was 4. They said they’d check on me in an hour / find the anesthesiologist etc with the logic that there was no rush since I’d gone only 1 cm in over a week. Well there was an error that delayed the anesthesiologist and I was delivering about 2 hrs later.

With my second (different hospital/ doctor) I asked for an epidural again. My doctor said “you’re between 3 and 4 cm. Would you like to wait so you can walk around or labor in the shower or would you like it now?” I said “now” and, even with things working smoothly, it was prob 30-45 mins until it happened so I’m glad I did.

If you asked too early (but were far enough to be admitted) I think they’d just offer it a little later.

I had my 2nd and 3rd via water birth. It was so much easier than my traditional birth for #1. I don't know the water just soothed everything. Hurt a lot of course, but not agonizing like the non-water birth.

I got mine at sibley at 1cm dialated! They said they’ll give it to you as soon as you want once you’re admitted, I’d labored at home for about 16 hours when they finally told me I could come in (I was 11 days over due) and was still only 1cm. Got the epidural and took a nap bc I was in for a long labor
