LOL come on. Please don't speak about your kid like this, your kid doesn't deserve this. This is the U13 soccer, "committed to playing soccer in college" |
Its such a young age group- the first ECNL year........ the roster will change 3 or 4 times before shes even in high school. Ive been through it all with multiple kids playing EDP, ECNL, etc. She's a 2010 or 2009? Check the coaching slate for bethesda for next year- 2010 is Matt Ney, not Dave. if anyone thinks DG is a screamer based on what theyve seen over the last 24 months, you all havent seen KL or SC then. DG has softened quite a bit. KL runs the ECNL girls show- what he says goes, so be prepared for that. Also note that if you live in MD and play travel soccer in VA, at the high school age when shes playing high school soccer, she'll be having high school soccer training 5 days a week, (or 3 with games 2 days a week), PLUS be expected to make travel soccer training and weekend games. Many VA clubs look down on this, as its just too much of a strain on a youth athlete. Dont do it. So keep that in mind. |
Plenty of good EDP girls teams in this area as well. And yeah- no crazy rush to get her on an ECNL team now. Also, be prepared for her to be a star right now and 2nd team material in a few years. not saying that will happen but too many think talent now means talent forever. |
I would put her on an excellent EDP girls team first (at least top 2 EDP divisions) if playing with 2010 boys is at a lower level of play, that is (below the top 2 EDP divisions). There are a couple of girls that play in my boys EDP divisions who are as good or better than some of the boys and would be shoeins for ECNL teams (if they were interested). At less competitive boy levels, the increased speed and physicality isn't really much of a challenge for more skilled and smart soccer players. At least that has been our experience with one kid playing up, and that's what you'll read here on this board - playing up is not worth it unless you're playing up on a very good team. Or applied to your scenario, playing with boys would not be worth it unless it's on a very good team as well. |
My older DD is. She's 17. What is the problem with that? I'm not talking soccer scholarships for 12 year olds. I am telling you my experience over the years and where we are now. |
Any rule against playing on both teams Girls ECNL and Boys EDP? Too much soccer probably but are there any rules against this I wonder... |
she can be carded in both ECNL and EDP- no conflicts on those cards |
Does anyone know when and where the U12 Girls VPSL state cup final is between SYC and VYS? ... or maybe it already happened. If so, result? Thanks |
Doesn't look like they've reached the final yet.Semi's are next weekend. https://www.vysa.com/thestatecup 2010 girls schedule: https://vysa-2022springstatecup.sportsaffinity.com/tour/public/info/schedule_ladderview2.asp?sessionguid=&flightguid=261F307D-D722-435B-943F-FD6E0575385C&RoundType=0&sortby=Group&tournamentguid=74D845F8-5384-4584-A5DF-A61B803EA1FC |
Thanks. That's USYS. I'm asking about the Club Soccer state cup or as they call it...VPSL. https://system.gotsport.com/org_event/events/11623/schedules?group=61187 |
True BUT...check the ECNL rules and with your coach/team manager. I know on the boys side, ECNL only allows a certain number of "discovery players" who can be carded on another team even if it's a USYS team. |
I had no idea there were 2 state cups! VPSL looks like a smaller field with only a few strong teams. Are there really just 7 teams in a tournament that declares a statewide winner? |
Yes, there's only a few teams. obviously it's not as "prestigious" as the USYS state cup (and there's plenty of people that like to slam the USYS state cup because ECNL teams (and MLS Next teams on the boys side) don't join. But it is what it is. VPSL was/is the previous NPL league that now turns into ECNL-R at U13 I THINK, so VPSL state cup is really only a league championship....but a championship none the less. |
I just don't understand. Oh wait, it's ECNL trying to take over the soccer world! Another way for them to make money. Makes no sense at all. They travel to COLORADO for a second or third tier teams. |
A few years have passed what have you learned? |
