I would cut in front of them |
Op here. No typically people sign in and go in the building-it's literally a couple seconds. The problem is the people who are waiting are also still dropping off with a staff member instead of waking to the classroom. And then it's most parents so they are waiting until the person in front of them-is walking back out before going in. Basically it was a non-issue before Covid. It's adding considerable time to each drop off now because of the extra steps. |
Omg OP I would be losing my mind. A 20 minute wait is not normal or reasonable. Can you talk with other parents/the director about how this is impacting you? As a PP said this is not about COVID, it's just a terrible process. |
Then raise the issue to your daycare for a new drop off procedure. Given that you must sign in and cannot just walk your child back to their classroom, you can’t cut the line. Both the sign in and the walk back are still not COVID issues. It’s an inefficient check-in process that right now the daycare doesn’t seem bothered by. |
Op here. I have had 4 kids go through this daycare. It literally never takes long enough to cause any kind of wait during normal times. It's the multitude of added steps the Covid extra people are adding that is causing the issue. The entire sign in process takes less than 5 seconds. The sign in isn't causing the issue. Like I said, I know this because I have had 4 kids go through this daycare and it's never been an issue. It's only been an issue since Covid. |
Then enjoy your wait outside everyday. |
I’m still confused- why can’t you sign in on the computer and walk your kid back? Maybe the daycare needs two lines? Like one for the computer and then one to have the child escorted in? Is the issue that it’s one big line? I would raise it with your daycare if that is the issue. |
+1 DH always does drop off and he jokes that any parent who tries to linger longer than a minute gets the bum’s rush. |
Just walk around and sign your kid in. If you don't have to wait and the computer isn't an issue, I don't understand why you're standing in line. If someone says something, keep walking. |
