| TPMS has only advanced English. It’s not really advanced. |
+1 Pyle |
| Silver Creek also only offers so-called advanced English. It’s not challenging at all. |
| Our school has only "advanced" which obviously is regular English and a bunch of options for ESOL and SN students. |
|
ours has “advanced” for all too! A total joke — some kids speak no English or are so low-functioning they can’t write a sentence.
Same with ours. It is truly terrible. No other options. Kids who are ESOL or need extra supports still take Advanced English and then take an extra class additionally for support. MS has been useless and a HUGE waste of time. I have an 8th grader and hope it gets better in HS. |
Chuckles and gathers popcorn to wait and see who these parents are going to be. Especially when different schools already do different things in English regardless of class name. |

Pyle has a much lower percentage of high achieving students than almost any other MS according to the county . Frost is much better. Although advanced English at TPMS is much easier than CES. DC has written multiple papers in excess of 2k words and reads a book almost every month. Yes I wish it were better but it's far from bad |
That's not bad. I have a kid in private who reads one book per quarter and three/four over the summer and we thought that was fine. |
This is really tiring. It's not true. Do your math. It's just simple division. Remember that skill? The schools with low percentages are White Oak, Westland and a few others. Your bragging about Frost is getting really painful especially about how great the math team is. Please give it a rest. I'm sorry your child did not get in to the magnet but please don't torture us with your trying to put down others because your child did not get the opportunity. |
Yes Pyle had like 60 advanced kids out of 1500 and Frost had 70 out of 1100. It's pretty simple math. |
|
Lakelands Park only has advanced English. Also when I asked 2 years ago I was told 2/3rd or so of the grade is in the "advanced" humanities class.
At Clemente I know they tried to make sections of kids within the advanced English classes. So lower, middle, high "advanced". Everyone advanced of course! |
| This is a directive from the county. I have taught at BOTH of the middle schools mentioned in the OP. Advanced English for all. No choice for the school itself to make. From my understanding, it also makes parents happier/complain less. It's all such a mess. |
Crazy Frost poster. No one is saying there is a higher percentage of highly able kids than Frost. They are just saying it's not horrible like some schools where there are really few highly able kids. Also Frost has one of the most highly prepped populations in the county. All the elementary schools have buses that go to after school programs. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it does skew the testing. |
| Yes “Crazy Frost” poster. Pp you are delusional. Everyone knows Frost is a great school. We are making things up to get under your skin. 🙄 |
