| The Revlon dryer gets too hot, even on the lowest setting. I switched to the Conair (knot doctor or something? It's purple), because it supposedly doesn't get as hot. It's definitely better than the Revlon. With any of these tools you need to use a heat protectant. |
What heat protectant do you recommend? I"ve tried the Dry Bar one in the pink bottle (prep?) but it hasn't done much to protect. |

I bought the Revlon dryer when everyone was talking about it, and I thought it did a great job the first couple times I used it, but quickly I saw that my hair, which is prone to dryness, was getting damaged.
So then I spent the big bucks on the Dyson Air wrap. I think I've been using it for at least 3 years now. I only use two of the attachments - the dryer, and the brush. The Airwrap also comes with curling rods. I've tried them, but do not use regularly. I have really thick hair, and I felt like the rods did not "grab" enough hair. But I don't often want to curl my hair anyway. I recommend Airwrap. My hair is in really great condition after using this exclusively for years. It's easy for me to get my hair smooth. I wash my hair and dry with the Dyson Airwrap two to three times per week. |
I really like the Pureology 21 spray |
| I have curly, frizzy, past the shoulder hair and I had the same problem with the revlon. I ended up getting the Dyson 3 years ago and love it! It dries my hair so much faster than anything I’ve ever tried and my hair has been healthy and in great condition. I blow dry every 2 days. I use the 2nd highest heat setting to dry, and then finish with the cold shot which seems to help leave it shiny and soft. I do use heat protectant every time - my favorite is Bumble & bumble repair. |
| I have both and love both. I use the Dyson to do the rough drying and the Revlon to finish it up and smooth it. I think it really depends on your hair type. Mine is very thick and although I use a protectant once in a while, it doesn’t have any damage from heat. |
| I bought the revlon a few months ago. I've used it a handful of times on my long-ish, straight, healthy but bleached hair, and it seriously makes the ends look like steel wool. I didn't think that was possible with greasy straight hair like mine. |
Another +1. This is what I do, too. No damage. I imagine drying it from just out of the shower would really cook it. The revlon gets HOT. But I use the heat to pull out whatever has started to curl/wave on it's own while air-drying. |
| You should not be using the revlon dryer to dry your hair from wet. You should roughly dry your hair first with a regular blow dryer and then just finish it with passthrough of the revlon. It's much easier on your hair this way. |

| OP Trader Joe’s has a good clear hair protectant and you should be using a microfiber turban go dry your hair out before you use the revlon. |
| It depends on you hair. I love the revlon brush. I went to a hairdresser who used the dyson and it wasn't any better or faster for my hair. |
| I love my air wrap. Worth every penny. |
+2 I let my very curly/frizzy hair dry *almost* completely and then do the above steps. Takes about five minutes to completely dry and style. Though I do briefly use the high heat first, then finish up with the less hot setting. |
Completely agree. A hairdresser I used to see used the Dyson and it took FOREVER to dry my hair. The Revlon brush is a miracle worker for me and I've been using it for years. Heat protectant + only using it once (maybe twice) a week. |
