Athleta skorts?

Anonymous
I have a skort from Costco that is way more comfortable than my Athleta skort.

This does not apply to dresses or dressier skirts, just FYI.

Ok…I’m ready for my flaming…

I am very fit but have a pear shape naturally (5'4, 118) and my upper legs are my biggest problem area. Much larger proportionally than the rest of my body. Shorts make me look very strange- like my ass is twice as big and tree trunk legs with sticks at the bottom. I have only found 1 (!) pair of shorts in 15 years that look flattering on me. Skorts (the kind that look like a skirt - not the kind with shorts in the back) look so much more flattering on me.

Same. No need to be worried about flaming, PP, we pears know that it's a body shape people usually don't understand unless they have one (see the other thread on looking for summer bottoms for the pear-shaped 50 yo where someone recommended "baggy linen pants" as something they thought would look good ). Skirts pretty much always look better on us than pants, and skorts are basically just more comfortable/casual skirts.

I’m the skort-questioning PP. I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I guess I hadn’t thought of how body shapes factored in. It makes sense when you put it that way.

Un a runner and Body Glide works great to prevent chafing.

They have roll ons for chafing you could try putting on your legs

I'm still wearing those $9 costco skorts from several years ago

Try the Spanx skort also. Black or white. I think Nordstrom still has stock.

I agree. But I go the other way, why not just wear a skirt. Every time I shop for a tennis or golf skirt they only have skorts.

With the athletic skirt I forego underwear. It’s like swim shorts.

I’m short and apple shaped and shorts look terrible on me from the back, really awful. The unbroken line of a skirt looks much better, and a skort lets me wear one without worrying about showing my undies. Before skorts I only wore long skirts which wasn’t a great look because I’m short.

I think someone who's 5'8 could probably pull off a skort.

I'm 5'4, fairly slim (size 2), straight/rectangular shape, and the ones I've tried (Athleta, Eddie Bauer) somehow make me look like a wide log -I feel like the length is always wrong. For walks in the summer, I just wear shorts even though I guess I'm too old (nearly 50).

PP here I forego underwear as well. Hence why I dont want the “ort” part.
