Drank wine, downed cocktails, had a massage...didn't know I was pregnant. Uh oh.

I conceived on my honeymoon. I drank an entire bottle of champagne by myself the day before we left to come home. And, ah, pretty much drank the whole way home (we got bumped to first, and the flight attendants got us soused when they found out we had just gotten married.)

I got a positive test the next day. All is fine, and she is healthy and wonderful.

Drank an entire weekend away, smoked about a pack of cigarettes while drunk (don't normally smoke so that shows how drunk I was) and tested positive two days later. I have a healthy 2 year old. Really, don't worry. All will be fine.

i have never found anything that explains why a massage is a "no no" (god I HATE that phrase -- what, are we 6?). My OB said he saw no reason not to get them, either. I think massage therapists simply want to protect themselves since miscarriages are more common early on, so they don't want someone to have a massage, coincidentally have a miscarriage, and then blame it on the massage. Google it more before you worry about the massage. FWIW, I had them all the way through pregnancy, including first trimester and was completely fine.

OP, I think if you got BFP, you have nothing to worry about the massage you already got.

I get regular massages. My MT knows I am trying to get pregnant. The problem is one of triggering miscarriage, not of hindering development. She wants to stay away from trigger points in my lower back just in case. Of course, that is precisely where I need her to work.

I have been seeing a physical therapist, who also knows I am trying to get pregnant. She works on the very spot MT wants to avoid.

I am now pregnant. Had a PT appointment the day of my positive HPT. That day, she worked on that spot harder than ever.

I would not worry. I got massages all during my first pregnancy by a different, very experienced MT. Back then, she said if you get massages regularly during pregnancy, no big deal.

It's so early that you don't have to worry, OP. It's ok.

Just curious though--if you took an HPT on Monday and it was the weekend immediately before that when you were boozing and getting a massage--why? You must have known that you could have been pregnant if you took one so soon afterwards.

Don't worry! I didn't know I was pregnant until probably 6 weeks. I chalked up my missed period to the insane stress of opening a new business. I drank a lot and WOW did I smoke, too... My doctor says it's fine but I will find out officially in a few days... YAY!

Oh, leave the OP alone. We were TTC, and it took on the very first month we tried. Right before I found out I was away on a girls' ski weekend (yes! Skiing and falling!), drinking insane amounts of caffeine and wine. Although I knew I could be pregnant, I didn't think I was, because who gets pregnant on the first try with advanced maternal age, right?

Found out in the bathroom of a ski lodge. My friend found me sitting at the lodge bar drinking selzer and white as a ghost. When she asked what was wrong, I pulled the pee stick out of my coat pocket.

Kid is totally fine. So is #2, who I conceived after drinking too much with DH one night after we decided to open a bottle of wine to "celebrate" (with some sad feelings about it) our decision to stop at one.

Both of my kids made it out of infancy, have very high WPPSI scores and aren't missing any major limbs, so I think OP's kids will be just fine.

OK, I will share what always made me feel better as I too had a similar experience when I found out I was pregnant with #1....this was a few years ago, before she had died and I kept telling myself that if Anna Nicole Smith could have a healthy baby SURELY I could too.

Congrats!

No worries. Got pregnant right way with my first right at the start of a 3-week vacation to wine country in Argentina.

You're fine.

FYI: Drinking a little bit of wine now and then won't hurt your developing baby, IMO. "Little bit" = a glass.

OP here. I took the test on Monday b/c my boobs were so sore all day Sunday - it just felt off. I felt fine prior to that. And no, we weren't "trying" - but we weren't being quite as careful as we could have been, either. It's happy news regardless. But it's true that it's never entirely unexpected when you're not being 100% consistent with birth control, so I get why you're asking.

Thanks for all the reassurance, DCUMs. You guys seem like a fun crowd - lots of party girls in the mix!

Hooray!

As you can see, your DC will hardly be the only child conceived during - shall we say - "a celebration". I'm another AMA who thought, "it won't happen right away, right?" Um, thanks to a LOT of wine on a warm spring night only a couple of weeks after we stopped being "consistent", ended up with healthy twins. FWIW, most of my pregnancy I couldn't get NEAR a glass of wine because smell put me off.

If the massage was gentle and relaxing, then that's probably a good thing. Happy mommy, happy baby.

All 3 of my kids were conceived in celebration. A wedding, a birthday, and a rowdy St. Paddy's day. All of them are fine!

I am a litigator - was at trial out of town. Working until 3 AM, went back to hotel for a super hot bath and super cold beer every night for 3 weeks straight. Felt so awful that I ate an entire large bottle of Advil over the 3 weeks too. And something like a large pizza for every dinner. My DS was an incredibly healthy almost 11 pound baby. He is happy, healthy, way smarter than me, and all is well (knock on wood).
