Pomona just posted their profile for the class of 2026: https://www.pomona.edu/news/2022/03/17-pomona-college-announces-new-class-2026
75.8% domestic students or international students
|
| Amherst admitted 7% of more than 14000 applicants; Williams admitted 8.5% of more than 15000 applicants. |
|
Info from email:
In total, Amherst will admit approximately 1025 students this year, before the wait list. Amherst received more than 14,800 applications, up 6% compared to last year. The admission rate stands at 7%. The first-year class target is 473 students. Amherst has offered a place on the wait list to fewer than 10% of the applicants. Among domestic students, 58% of applicants submitted an SAT or ACT score for consideration, and 68% of admitted students submitted a test. There is also a very large increase in international applicants, driven in part by the new test optional policy. When considering all students (both domestic and international), 51% of applicants submitted an SAT or ACT score for consideration, and 67% of admitted students submitted a test. |
Insane. Anyways, with those rates it is a crapshoot for the majority. Congratulations to anyone who got in. |
| 1500+ SAT all As at highly regarded private (school doesn’t offer AP classes but DC took 4 and got 4s and 5s). Varsity sport, leadership in ECs. Legacy - rejected. Waitlisted at all others. No acceptances today. Brutal. |
| 61.4 % of Pomona's admits are domestic students of color |
I'm so sorry - that is very tough news. Are there others out there for your DC? |
Just 20% white- that's insane. I don't think any other top private school has gone that low. Seems like they heavily value diversity. |
I'm sorry. It doesn't make any sense, and it's so hard for these kids who have been working their tails off for the last 3 1/2 years not to take it personally. Your DC sounds amazing and I hope you get good news soon. |
If your kid is wsitlisted at all the other schools they applied to, it seems they weren't realistic. |
Hopkins has something like a 2% admit rate in this area. |
How can the private be highly regarded but offer no APs?? Something doesn’t make sense here. |
It's great that this college does. Others should emulate. |
Is it not realistic to think your kid with above stats should get in somewhere decent/competitive? |
Yeah since 60 percent of people in US are white. Make sense to admit only 20 percent white. |
