Robe wearers - do you sleep in your robe? Wear clothes or underclothes underneath?

My neighbor takes his trash out in his robe but he’s always wearing nice pjs. He’s older, a retired teacher, but he gives off a jazz musician vibe. I think it’s adorable and I imagine him in his younger days playing the sax around his house in his robe and pjs. He always wears a hat when he’s out in the daytime and fully dressed. He’s a snazzy dresser, so I don’t judge his outdoor robe-wearing. (Not that it would matter if I did find it unacceptable, as he’s not my child so I have no say in his wardrobe.)

While we’re on the topic, I’d love recommendations from the robe-wearers for a nice quality cotton robe for summer. I love my plush robe in winter but looking for something lighter. Bonus points if it’s a little flattering.

Me too! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Robe #1-- full-length, terrycloth. This is for use immediately after exiting the shower/bath in the winter.

Robe #2-- full-length satin. This matches a PJ set and is for lounging around while getting ready in the morning.

Robe #3-- knee-length satin. This is for use after my shower/bath in the summer, or if I need to walk around the house before I am fully dressed.

Robe #4-- mid-thigh-length satin. This matches one of my lingerie sets and is for intimate times.

Robe #5-- crotch-length silk. This matches one of my lingerie sets and is for intimate times.

Robe #6- crotch-length lace. This is for intimate times.

Robe #7-- crotch-length satin and lace. This is for intimate times.

I put my robe on after I towel off from a shower. I do my hair and makeup in my robe most of the time and that gives my skin more time to absorb the lotion I've put on and a dry off more.

I can't stand going from a shower directly into clothes. I also can't stand my wet hair touching my skin, so a robe is perfect for me.

I never sleep in it and I wash it once a week. I also neve wear clothes with it.

I got a new one for Christmas from my mom that I love. Don't laugh, but it's from the LC Lauren Conrad collection at Kohl's.

It's lightweight and perfect for the warmer days.

That's an example.

I have a really warm robe. I get cold easily and put it on from time to time over my pajamas in the evening or morning in the winter like a house coat. The only other time I wear it is when I am sick with a fever. I wear it in bed over my pajamas and under the covers. This does not happen very often but It’s the only way I can get warm when i have the chills.

Ditto. And sometimes after shower.

I wear pajamas underneath. I wear one for extra warmth in the winter time. When I've been sick and had the chills, I've slept in one. My mother used to wear a housecoat, aka a duster robe, with undergarments on underneath.

I do not understand robes except to put on between the shower and getting dressed or at a spa.

I suppose when I was a kid, some moms would wear a robe over PJs when making breakfast after a sleepover. Personally instead of wearing a robe, I just put on clothes including a bra. If I am chilly I wear a fleece or a hoodie. I am a middle aged suburban mom and I don’t wear lounge clothes. I have regular clothes, workout clothes, and pajamas. I only wear PJs for sleeping and workout clothes for working out.

This is a tv thing...but when DS15 was on zoom for virtual school, I would sometimes stand (out of camera shot) in my full length plush leopard print robe and do funny stretches and dances. DS found this both hilarious and terrifying.

I wear my robe over lounging clothes if I feel chilly. The other time I wear my robe is right out of the shower - no clothes underneath in this situation, or underwear only.

The purpose of the post, revealed.

I feel as though someone who uses the term "intimate times" will be up for it. Have fun, you two!

I never heard of anyone who slept in a robe.
