We did that with #1, just buy a comfortable mattress if you are planning on it. For #2, I'm borrowing a bassinet, but it seems like one more thing to have. If you can borrow one from a friend or buy a cheap used one may be beneficial and more comfortable if you end up having a c setion |
| Thanks! I think I’ll get a pack n play. |
This makes no sense. A miniature crib on wheels is the definition of bassinet. This is like people saying "your toddler doesn't need to snack! Give him 3 meals per day with milk in between. But no snacks!" (milk in between meals is the same nutrition and calories as a healthy snack. Aka, a snack). |
+1 but I didn’t even EBF. Even mixing a bottle I found it to be less disruptive to my sleep. |
Was just coming to the post the same. We started out with the pack and play with bassinet in our room and then got a hand me down arms reach when baby 1 was 3 weeks old. Total game changer to not put my feet on the floor. I loved it so much. |
This is great and I’m glad it worked for people. Fwiw I EBFed but it was never like this for me. I always de swaddled and changed diaper between boobs, and I much preferred to carry the baby to the nursery across the hall and nurse in the glider. But I liked having the bassinet so I could check on baby noises and jiggle it as she was falling back asleep. So I’m just saying everyone is different. |
+1. Cribs are so big for newborns and not close enough. |
| We never got a bassinet. We set up the crib right next to our bed and then moved it into her room when it was time. |
| Absolutely! I’m jealous your room is large enough for A crib too! |
| I would (personally) say skip the bassinet and use a pack n play. If you’re like me the baby will end up sleeping with you most of the time anyway, mostly because I was too lazy and exhausted to do any sleep training with a very tiny baby. |
