A 2.5 GPA is not "normal." That's mediocre. If a kid is going to school every day and is somewhat engaged, a 3.0 GPA is the baseline.
A 1300+ SAT isn't bad at all. |
Educators are always trashed on here. It is an admirable profession and there is a significant difference between a gifted driven teacher and one with less talent. And either one could come from cornell or fredonia. But there is nothing wrong with getting a high level education and using it to teach. |
11+ APs a year? |
| Going to an in-state school |
Maybe this is true in public school but not in many private schools. Just showing up and doing some work gets you a lot less than a 3.0 |
I believe the average high school GPA is 3.0, so while a 2.5 might be below average, it’s not abnormal. Is it that hard to be kind and respectful towards each other? Why would you jump on a post like this and shoot someone down? |
Agreed. I have been lurking around here for a while and I must say this is such a negative site. It’s due to a handful of bitter, jealous, angry, insecure, and/or generally unhappy folks. I guess if you have the time to sit here and wait to respond negatively, you really have nothing going on, or take pleasure in being a contrarian or jerk. On the same note, if you are going to post, you must have thick skin, because an anonymous board just breeds such trolls. This is my last viewed post and contribution as I’m officially off this site for those reasons. |
+100, have to take many weeks off just to cleanse myself |
| I think my high stat kid is not normal. I've posted here - to try to get insight and context on admission decisions. Because the board is anonymous I have to question why anyone would lie- what would the motivation/point be? My next kid is a 3.4 GPA and hasn't taken the SAT yet he's "normal". I probably won't be posting here about him because we will have more realistic expectations. Having a "perfect" student you do feel they should get into a top school and it sucks when they dont and it drives you to internet forums to say WTF? |
Our guidance counselor at a W school emphasized not taking too many AP’s. The students were told to only take them in areas of interest/ strength. |
Is this made up storytelling? |
How can one take 11 AP classes per year? I know there are a handful of one semester AP courses, but I work in a competitive public high school and have never heard of a student taking 11 AP courses in a year. |
yeah tell me which school is that? we might move to this school district. our county only has 7 period .. no wonder we only have few people go to ivy every year. |
| Since AP courses are year-long, there is no school, anywhere, that could accommodate someone taking 11 AP classes in one year. Over the course of an entire high school career? Yes. Still not the norm. |
