Miserable 6th grader - any options?

Everybody always says this as if good K-6/8 schools obviously have openings for some reason well after the deadline, while a school like GDS doesn't. No. That's not how it works, especially in the last 5 years.

+1 on this recommendation. We know friends who were very happy there with their child. They are not in the typical "applications grind" cycle as other schools.

I'm pp above who recommended CES - the well known k-8 schools follow the typical applications cycle and can be quite competitive. Sure, give them a call...but by no means should you expect there to be an abundance of open spots. These schools are highly sought after.
