Lol best comment. But kind of agree - more bang for your buck in the Einstein cluster (Oakland Terrace, Flora Singer elementaries especially).

This house just popped up, zoned for Flora Singer

That’s a nice street and under OP’s budget. Could use some of the savings to paint and refinish the floors. Plus once kids are in middle school they could walk there which is nice at that age when they want some more independence.

Rockville is tooooo far out and no benefit unless you like shopping at large chain stores.

DC

Most amenities are usually in more dense areas.

Better Chinese food in Rockville. Better African/Caribbean food in Silver Spring.

Rockville. Better schools and better shopping. Who cares about being close to DC unless you're commuting to DC regularly. Besides, Rockville isn't that far and has 2 metro stations on the red line.

I lived in SS for six years and just moved to Rockville last fall. Both have pros and cons. In both neighborhoods, I lived directly beside the metro; I work in DC. In SS, it was a 21-minute commute, but in Rockville, it's 41 minutes. I'm still getting adjusted to the new and longer commute.

My neighborhood in SS was densely populated, walkable, and stores were more accessible. However, crime was higher in the immediate area, particularly petty crime (e.g., car vandalism, package theft).

In Rockville, I have to drive everywhere, but the neighborhood is safer. I don't have young children, so schools are not a factor.

I sometimes miss the bustle of city life but enjoy the calm of the suburbs.

Most of silver spring is suburban. Op is not really asking about DTSS.
