St. Mary’s, St. Louis, Blessed Sacrament/the Alexandria schools are. |
With a few exceptions it tends to be the ones with 2 classes per grade or more, which roughly translates to around 400 kids in the school, give or take. Also seems to be inversely related to the perceived quality of the public schools in the parish. |
| Another contributing parishioner who couldn’t get in last year due to high sibling enrollment. Hoping for better luck this year. |
Alexandria area Catholic family, applied 4 places for two children last year. Our parish doesn't have a school. Waitlisted at all 4. We just joined the parish for one of the four we applied to in the hopes of getting our younger DC into it next school year. I hope it works! |
For last year or this year? |
OP here - Alexandria applicant as well. Wow - 4 schools! Good luck to you. |
Same to you! It was a really tough one last year for everyone with all the public school uncertainty. I think (hope) this year and next year will be better. I know one place we applied only had one/two openings in the grade we needed and a TON of applications so I'm not surprised we got waitlisted. |
| Our children did not get into our parish school last year in Falls Church. Not sure if it’s considered a popular school or if it’s Covid related. |
If your children weren’t entering in kindergarten it’s always more difficult, but last year was more challenging than usual due to COVID. |
There are a couple schools in FC, but one is considered more popular by families. I know the school became more desirable during Covid. I’d apply again, if you’re still interested. |
