The biggest issue with privates around here is how they restrict the number of courses you can take. DD is taking two advanced math classes and two advanced science classes as a senior, and the only way to do that was to drop either language or social studies because you're limited to six major classes.
Compared to the math/science magnet programs, which have 8 periods a day, you just can't fit as much coursework in. DD also spends much less time per week in each class compared to public school. |
