| OP, I don’t think most people are going to pronounce it how you are expecting |
| She will be called lizzard |
| It just screams “Heathers” to me, but yes it’s also very pretty |
| I don’t really like it OP, but it’s also not a “bad” name or something. Use it if you love it. |
PP again. I stand corrected! I was thinking of Lisanne, not Lisette. |
| I knew a Lisette in middle school (in the early ‘00’s) who pronounced it Liz-Ett, with perhaps a softer z/s sound. I think it’s a pretty and charming name. |
| My mother had a wonderful friend named Lisette, pronounced the same way you indicate, who was from Switzerland. Very sweet lady. I have never met another Lisette. |
| It’s beautiful name - trust your own instincts. |
| You and your child will forever be explaining how to pronounce it. |
| It's not hard to pronounce and it's charming. Go for it! Especially if your last name is French. |
| Sounds like someone trying to be fancy. |
|
Doesn’t it mean “little Lisa”?
Could you name her Lisa or Elisabeth and then use Lisette as a sweet nickname? |
|
I think Lisette is a very pretty name.
My DH, who is French, says he thinks it’s desuet (old fashioned) and paysan (rural, I guess not necessarily a bad thing). Random sample size of one. Plus, if you’re not actually going to be living in France, who cares? I really like the idea of naming your little girl Elisabeth, and using Lisette as a very lovely nickname. |
|
I would pronounce it with an "s" sound.
Liss-ette |
+1. Definitely sounds like someone trying to be fancy. |
