Any Downside to HSG Test?

| I apparently have a twisty, turn-y wonky reproductive system. They couldn't even complete the test at the hospital for me. |

| My advice - have it done by a radiologist not your RE. I had it done by each and radiologist was less painful AND I would never have a non-radiologist mess around with radiation again - I don't think they are properly trained for it. |

Same here! We'd been trying for 1.5 years and had unexplained infertility. This was part of the work up leading to ART and we got pregnant on our own!

I completely disagree. I have had 4 of them - 1 with a radiologist and 3 with REs. My one with the radiologist was by far the worst. |

| I had sex two days after hsg procedure...my dr told me for not doing this but after 2weeks of procedure,i didn't listen because the days after hsg were fetile days..and look what happend now!!! Every period time i have avery very pain .can't move can't use the restfoom easily...omg, i can't take up with this pain.....btw after had the procedure my dr told me everything is perfect...that's y i started Bding immediately ...help me plz |

I did HSG test last December 2013 in Singapore NUH. Doctor told me everything shows normal from the test. Doctor suggested I must go for an IUI and come for it after taking medicinec from the 2nd day of my menses till five days. I had no time to wait further more in Singapore, so I fly back to Maldives, planing to come again in March for IUI. January my menses should come on 16th. On the 16th I had very little discharge and some abdominal pain. I thought it will come on the following day. 4 days passed no sign of my menses. I tested by a kit for possible pregnency. Results shows negative. I report to my doctor in NUH Singapore. Doctor adviced me that I must jump start my menses. Another 3 days later I tested again, shows negative. I took the medicine doctor told me to take for 10 days. After taking the last tablet I tested again for possible pregnency. Surprisingly the results shows positive. My dream comes true after 6 long year's of trying at my age of 35. My husband age 48. Thx for HSG test and NUH Singapore.

| It's like cramping during period. I get really bad cramping during menstruation because of endometriosis and it's the same after HSG. Doctor told me to take 2 painkillers before the test and it helped. In the grand scheme of things surrounding IVF, it's not bad at all. |

No downside of HSG for me.
After a full year of actively trying (secondary infertility), I went in for HSG test. Painless. Got pregnant next cycle. (also had acupuncture treatment that cycle) Healthy wonderful child. |

| I was having secondary infertility and had one miscarriage. I had an HSG. All was clear. I got pregnant right away. then miscarried. Then got pregnant again and had an ectopic. it ruptured ( awful). Then had another HSG. Also the surgeon who did the ectopic told me the other tube looked fine and healthy. Well i had another ectopic in that tube. It also ruptured. I KNOW I am not the norm, but it's crazy to me that the HSG tests were fine both times and the surgeon said my other tube was fine and I still got ectopics. The RE told me it was microscopic damage and the HSG can not tell that. |
