Keeping cats from knocking things over on shelves/mantle

You accept that the cat is now the boss. You are a mere servant who feeds him and cleans up his poop. Maybe you’ll pet him when he allows it. Even my German Shepherds are afraid of our cat.

After months of being woken up by our crazy active cats, we bought the Sssscat pet deterrent spray bottle thing. We put it in front of our door at night to keep them away from our bedroom so we can sleep. We have literally needed to turn it on one time. Now we just set it in front of the door, off, and they leave us alone to sleep. Best $40 I’ve ever spent.

You could clear off the mantle and put the can you there. Once cat is used to not going up there, you can put the stuff back.
