So it's more like Jewish people on Christmas, dining at a Chinese restaurant? (Sorry, I couldn't resist...)

LOL. You white folks crack me up. You are good OP. Go get your chinese food. Trust me, they will NOT turn you away.

Im the OP- I am trying to not be a jerk. I don’t want the restaurant to be like, damn white people this is why we stay open. I’m genuinely curious if it’s ok or culturally insensitive.

And asking other ignorant white people helps how?

Yeah that's why I never go out on Dec 31, Feb 14 or July 4.

Yeah, OP is def overthinking this, but I like the pendulum on this side of the empathy spectrum. Much better than "How dare this restaurant close for a non-American holiday?!"

You are waaaay overthinking.

Happy Lunar New Year and thank you for sharing with your family. The owners of the restaurant will be appreciative.

I get it OP. You are thinking about how lots of stores make people work on Thanksgiving and the employees hate it, so as a customer it’s nice to vote with your cash for closing that day. This is not like that.

Order and tip very well

Only people who are so far up their own asses their eyes are brown (or something like that).
