I lived here in 2010 and yes it rained the whole month of December. So much so that our downtown area flooded. IF you were really here, then you must have been in hibernation. https://www.sierraphotography.com/wxnotes/default,month,2010-12.aspx#:~:text=According%20to%20preliminary%20NWS%20data,December%202004%20(8.77%20inches). "The remarkable amount of rainfall makes December 2010 one of the wettest on record in Southern California. According to preliminary NWS data Downtown Los Angeles (USC) has recorded 8.52 inches of rain so far this December. This ranks it as the third wettest December in Los Angeles since recordkeeping began in 1877, exceeded only by December 1889 (15.8 inches) and December 2004 (8.77 inches). With additional rain a possibility, December 2010 only needs 0.25 inch to surpass 2004." |
| I was there over this past weekend and it was gorgeous! Flew out of DCA to snowflakes and having to defrost the plane before take-off and landed in sunny, warm weather. I was there for almost two weeks at the end of December and there were torrential downpours for all but 2 days. I was shocked at how fiercely it poured around the clock for days. That does not happen in DC. There was also no flooding from it which definitely would have happened all over the DMV after about an hour of rain that heavy. |
Yes, December is our wettest month. If you live near the coast (as I do), May and June are grey and overcast. Other than that Jan-May, July-Nov are spectacular. |
haha. No I wasn't in hibernation. I was in Santa Monica. I had to put trash bags over my kids in their stroller because we were unprepared for the rain. We arrived that month. |
