Summer PE 10 through Virtual Virginia

My daughter had gymnastics practice, so the coach signed and that more than fulfilled the requirement. I think Fitbit or Apple Watch (or similar) documentation was accepted too.

Thanks! My DD is a gymnast, too, so it should be easy to fulfill the requirement. Did your daughter do it through Virtual Virginia or Loudoun County Schools? I have heard that both may be options.

I'm hearing some not so good things about Virtual VA. Can you clarify which program your student used?

I get not wanting to do PE during the school year, but 10 weeks sounds like it's the whole summer.

Hmm, my stepson took PE virtually in Falls Church City but I don't know if it was Virtual Virginia or not.

It was quite easy - some health modules to go through and then verification of physical activity.

The biggest downside TBH was that we were clueless in figuring out how the driver's ed situation works and we screwed up the order of some things, then that got even more complicated with the pandemic.

How many hours of documented activity do they need?

My kid from Arlington took This class it was weekly ten hours that had to be signed off on by someone other than the parent. There was also a health component. My kid thought it was easy but was active due to a sport.

My daughter did it through Virtual Virginia and highly recommends it. Wasn't difficult at all for a moderately active child, cleared a space for another elective in her schedule, and allowed her to choose activities rather than play endless rounds of volleyball in regular PE.

It was Virtual Virginia.

One year they gave everyone fitbits and it was easy, but then another year they didn't do the fitbits and did required activities and it was not easy, so I would find out what this summer will look like before you sign up.

Does anyone know if either the Loudoun program or the Virtual Virginia option have ever counted summer ballet intensive classes (at the pre-professional level) toward fulfilling the activity requirement?

I think my takeaway from talking to neighborhood and AoS parents is don't count on your kid to keep up with summer PE assignments, even if they generally are very independent at school during the school year. There's teachable moments, and then there's failing summer PE.

Weird. There are two athletes on my child's team who did it last year and reported it was no big deal. I wonder why there are such different stories.

Reupping this. Anyone else with recent experience in FCPS?

is it asynchronous and does it just have a timeframe in which to complete everything?

It is not asynchronous. There is a set time daily where they are expected to log in. They can get one absence, maybe two with an excellent justification. More than that and they risk failing.

Because the athletes are disciplined and not bumps on a log.
