
most but not all montessori have 5 day programs. i remember georgetown montessori had a three day option too.
i think different schools are different so it's worth visiting a few. |
As I understand it, the reason for the 5-day schedule is to help kids get into a routine where they can maintain certain expectations and understand easily what is expected of them.
Our DS is at a Montessori program for 5 days a week, mornings only. It definitely creates a rhythm that we can both follow - not unlike the sleeping & eating 'schedule' that we roughly followed when he was younger. Mornings go off without a hitch. In contrast, our afternoons change by the day, but remain constant week-to-week: Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays at the playground; Tuesday visits w/ grandma; Wednesday gym class. He still can't follow all of the afternoon changes and seems a bit confused by it all... |
