School cancelled Tuesday?

Yeah sidewalks and residential streets aren’t clear. Very icy in places. I figured that and western Loudoun would cancel us but was surprised the flip came so late

That’s all fine and sweet but y’all ready for the next 3 snowstorms left this winter?

Next one starting this Thursday. No school on Friday.

Even for western Loudoun, Thursday is only forecast to be a chance of a dusting.

Not sure what the need for lying is. However, we will be well below freezing and currently at 80% snow. But it’s ok. I have my bonbons ready and you have your vitriol packed and loaded for when Wayde hits that call button.

From weather.com for Purcellville:

"Cloudy with snow showers mainly during the morning. High 34F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 70%. Snow accumulations less than one inch."

You must be new to Loudoun. When they say the night before "2 hour delay but we might cancel" they mean "there is a 5% chance we are NOT cancelling school tomorrow."

To be fair, I went running in my Sterling neighborhood this morning and some of the sidewalks were treacherous. Not the ones in front of peoples' houses, but those along some of the major roads, like Algonkian Pkwy. Part of it had been plowed and then it just stopped. We need to do better.

PP here. That's where I live! I didn't know anyone else around here was on DCUM! What schools are you? We are Lowes/Seneca/Dominion.

I'm normally anti-snow days. But we are really going to unmask everyone, I wish school would close for a month at least.

So, in meteorology, the chance of snow is not directly proportional to the amount that is forecast. For example, Weather Underground forecasts 70% chance of snow for Round Hill Thursday—that’s the likelihood that it will snow some amount. The forecast amount is less than one inch.

I have no vitriol to load; as a teacher, I enjoy an extra day at home in bed! But if my students can make it into school with minimal disruption, then you’re right, I would prefer to do that. Shrug.
