Under the old quarantine rules, asymptomatic close contacts who were fully vaxxed did not have to quarantine. CDC changed that in its recent guidance from 12/28 and APS adopted it, such that ALL close contacts would have to quarantine, even if they are asymptomatic, if it has been more than 6 months since their last shot and they haven’t been boosted.
APS is sticking with the old quarantine rules for now. Under the old isolation rules, positive COVID cases had to isolate for 10 days. Under the CDC’s recent guidance, the isolation period was shortened to 5 days with an encouragement to take a rapid test at day 5 to see if the person is still infectious. APS is sticking with the old isolation rules for now. |
The real challenge after the five days is that it requires strict mask wearing when around others for five more days. How is that possible for kids at school who eat lunch with their peers? I feel like CDC should have come up with clear guidelines for school settings like they did before. |
The CDC walked Back their recent change in recommendations today & really muddied the waters. “Test after 5 days… if you want… even if you test negative wear a mask, don’t visit elderly people, & don’t fly on a plane…. Etc.” The revised revised guidelines are not at all clear. I can see why APS just went back to what they were doing before. |
Only when it’s convent (aka supports their agenda), C.mon gotta keep up. |
DING DING DING. This is why this whole quarantine charade needs to end. We don’t have adequate testing to catch most people before symptomatic and by the time they have symptoms and manage to track down a test, they’re no longer highly contagious. It’s a whole lot of bureaucracy and the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Make it simple and just tell people to stay home if sick for 5 days. People can understand that and won’t be as inclined to lie/avoid testing. At this point, it’s such a mess and pointless that I’m going to hang up the phone if anyone calls to tell me I’m a close contact. La la la. If my family is symptom free, I don’t want to know Jack. |
Many people on this board seemed to have missed this memo. |
COVID will never be eradicated. Everyone will be repeatedly exposed to it for the rest of their lives. Kids need to be in school. Ready for some major changes at the VDH and in VA schools after next week. Bring on Youngkin! |
Lunch predicament? There's no lunch predicament. Kids are eating indoors at schools throughout the US and the world with no issues. Oh, you must be one of those "I haven't eaten indoors in a restaurant since March 2020". Boy have you missed out. We just met up with 5 APS families today at a restaurant indoors. |
Oh it's you again. You sure have an active social life. Where did you go tonight? So when your kids pop positive on Sunday they will be out of school for the next week and a half and there goes your childcare. Enjoy! |
THIS! adults in Arlington have free will to go to movies, the gym, restaurants, the train.....everywhere! And we are begging our public schools to allow our kids to GO TO SCHOOL, eat lunch with their friends and do so without reporting their health history or testing daily. Begging idiots to give our kids the freedoms we enjoy. Meanwhile in half the country life is normal for kids. Normal. |
Unfortunately I don't think that's the way it will go with the PP you're responding to. She's perfectly happy sending her sick kids to school because, you know, there is no issue for her. Just hope and pray that her kids aren't in the same school as your kids. It really is the only recourse. |
Sadly you're right. Little Larla will go in sick and then will infect the teacher, and then PP will be responsible for shutting down the whole operation cuz there aren't any subs. She'll be the hero of her neighborhood! So much for in person school. |
Yup. Vile PP is going to ruin it for the rest of us when her kids infect the teachers and shut down those classes. |
Nope she won’t test them and they will expose dozens at school. |
Move to Missouri or something then if that’s what you want. |
