Dessert to bring for Italian dinner

Cannoli cake if you want to bake. Or a simple chocolate tort. Or a lemon ricotta cake that you can just sprinkle powder sugar onto.

Costco has good cannoli kits if you want to bring.

OP if you want to bring a bought dessert and support a local business, go to Vaccaro's cannoli factory in Silver Spring (Brookeville Rd). https://www.vaccaros.com

I’ve always been curious about those olive oil cakes. Maybe a lemon basil flavor would be good. If you feel up to experimenting, of course.

The cranberry trifle in the WaPo food section this week looked really good.

I really like a nice tray of “Italian cookies” from the bakery.

I would bring Italian cookies from a bakery plus a homemade chocolate cake with chocolate icing along with ice cream. Everyone loves chocolate cake.

I would do the chocolate cake or tiramisu but not the cookies. I don't know anyone who actually likes Italian cookies from the bakery.

Old school - Spumoni ice cream!

Or look up a recipe for tortoni. Super easy and tasty/festive/retro.

With pasta and meatballs I would want something light, like fruit. But it's kind of mean to serve just fruit for dessert so I would offer both fruit and tiramisu.

This is really easy and would go well with the meal.

Wait, have you actually found this in the dc area? Share your secret! This isn’t something I’d ever try to make myself, so I only get them when I go back home to CT.
