My hot and sour soup was translucent -- should I complain?

Less corn starch maybe? But why would you complain? "Hi, i don't like your version of a common dish, can i have a refund" sounds bizarre.

No taste? Could you have COVID?

Or, restaurant could have added liquid to stretch out the last bit

Or, they prepare it differently. Look on their social media to see if photographs match what you got

My own soups, hot and sour being one, never come out the exact same each time.

You should be happy that all restaurants aren’t using premixed soups.
