Expires at midnight, where’s the extension then?

Okay on October 7th it was set to expire. She renewed the extension at 8:45PM on October 7th to last through January 7th.

So we have another 10 hours or so to wait

There is a difference between the public health emergency and the public emergency. Pretty sure PHE ended last year.

If it's not renewed, does that mean that the mask mandate and vaccination mandates are void (since I assume their necessity was based on having a PHE)?

Trying to keep it all straight - we're currently under a Winter Surge State of Emergency because of the storm. The hospitals are asking for a new Public Health Emergency which expired a year ago. And the 'regular' Emergency expires tonight.

The mayor last re-upped the order when we were at 20 daily new cases per 100,000 residents. We're now at 235 daily new cases per 100,000 residents. Seems like a slam dunk re-up no?

If she doesn't extend it in the next 30 minutes I literally have no idea wtf is going on...

Without this the Mayor can't:

- Activate the Emergency Operations Center
- Issue safety guidelines
- Set up emergency medical sites as needed
- Access federal Covid aid

Not telling her how to do her job but how is this expiring when our hospitals now have the worst numbers in TWO YEARS? Cases rates are also the highest? And lines are wrapped around the block for testing?

Its official - I have no idea what's going on.

At this point you need a legal degree to find out if we're under emergency orders or not.

On December 20th, the Mayor issued SEPARATE public emergency orders which extended the original public emergency order from Oct 7th and prior to that 2020 - through January 31st, 2022.

Also wondering this.

How can they justify a vaccine passport if the ‘emergency’ is over? Maybe someone with more legal knowledge can explain.

Vaccine passport has to be void at this point.

Where are our litigious NIMBYs when we need them most?

I think it’s extended until January 31st - her rushed Dec 20 order is just clear as mud.
