Club Interest in Player Development

Their objective, as is the case for any organization/business, is to make the club bigger and better. How do they get bigger and better? more players, more money, more fields, more social media, more paying members. Everything the club does is towards these goals. Getting kids into good colleges is not for the benefit of the kids, it's for the benefit of the club which can use it to recruit more younger players. Recruitment is the life blood of youth soccer clubs because every club is guaranteed to lose a certain number of players every year because they age out.

Yep. If you look at the clubs the few players getting in to a well know colleges would “develop” at any club. Why because first and foremost those top players are great athletes. The clubs develop goals is to win as many games at each age group as they can. This brings more paying customers in.They really do not care about your kid. They are just throwing kids at the wall and hoping a few make it through.

When the money comes from developing talent because there is a market to watch pro soccer - then finding and developing talent will become important. Right now - that is not what is driving the bus.
