More fodder for the "it's good to check" advice: I was told that eggs are off limit to an Indian vegetarian guest. At dessert time she mentioned that she does eat baked goods with eggs in them, no problem! That was good to know! |
This is not true. Rennet is allowed in kosher cheese as long as it comes from a properly butchered kosher animal. (You can google this.) The rennet enzyme itself is not considered a meat product. However, these days many kosher cheeses are made with microbial enzymes instead of rennet. |
