Here is a Reddit ranking of residency placement rankings (which is what really matters).

They take like 10 people a year. Good luck. |
I’m not sure why you’re being so argumentative. Brown is an elite school and extremely difficult to get into their PLME IN MY OPINION, which hasn’t changed. If it’s not elite enough for you, oh well. You’re being silly. Dartmouth doesn’t offer this type of program. They do have early assurance which you apply to in your junior year, at least according to our tour guide. |
Nobody cares where you go to med school, it's all about residency and fellowship - PP here with GP, H, and DC1 in medicine. For example, if you want to go gastro, you aim for Mayo or Cleveland Clinic, not Pitt. Brown has great placement programs. https://medical.brown.edu/about/facts-and-figures/match-lists/md-2021-match-list |
I am not being argumentative. Just because someone doesn't fully agree with you doesn't mean that person is being argumentative. Where did I say Brown is not "elite enough"? Darthmouth does. |
I would like to know more about the Dartmouth program. I still have questions. Like what is the program called? How does my high schooler apply? Do you consider Pitt better than Brown? If so, why? |
| We know one kid in the program and our DS went for a weekend in the Fall to meet her cohort. Pretty much all of the kids in PLME had some kind of hook. They were all qualified but were also the grand of donors, the child of media stars, the 12th or something in a row to go to Brown, was on an Olympic team at 16, etc. Hoping the parent of a current PLME kid will weigh in here. |
Pitt is one of the best med schools in US. |
You said “Brown is not known as one of the better medical schools”. OP also said Brown is the only Ivy with a program. Please go correct her since you claim Dartmouth has one. Op, good luck. It’s got about a 2% acceptance rate and is excellent, dare I say elite, despite what the pp claims. |
FAR better than Brown for sure. |
No, you don't get it. I agree with the first PP who has a child in a similar program. The admission rate at Brown is 2.3%, Hopkins med school is 7%. I think at VCU is 3.5%. These are 18 year old kids, not mature people applying to med school. |
LOL. You said "cream of the crop"! I love that. Good day PP. |
I read one thread in the College forum about the posters' college admissions and it's amazing how many people applied to Brown in the 80s and 90s and got rejected. It's time to grow up and move on. |

Can you go beyond simply med school rankings? I would say Brown undergrad is better, so if there is any chance the child would change their mind, Brown is better. Browns match is amazing. I’m not familiar with Pitt’s combined program so what makes it unique/better to you would be helpful rather than just “the med school is great”. |
