Things for a 1y/o to do - trusting the more exp mommies

PP here, didn't realize how old this thread is, but I guess the information is still good.

At that age, the building museum and the zoo were the big favorites. Also the Natural History mammal section and the aquarium in the Ocean section. (Air and space nothing was at her height)
In the zoo she really liked the small farm part.

She also liked art museums but in the Bjorn so that the paintings were at her height.

She was so excited to run around so a park like Montrose with long alleys worked really well.

Following up on this old thread - I, too, am looking for new things to do with a soon-to-be-one-year-old. But I'm a little perplexed about the timing of all these - my DD still takes an hour-long nap in the morning from 9 to 10 (which I'm hoping she'll give up soon, but I have no way of knowing when that'll happen), and then an afternoon nap from 1 to 2:30-ish. So when do you do all these things, particularly the zoo? Seems like the zoo is best in the mornings, but that would be right smack in the middle of her nap. So do I just need to wait till we've got the whole morning for this? How have other folks done it? TIA.

PP. I don't know how far the zoo is for you, or if your kiddo naps in the car, but I often will let DD take her shorter morning nap while we're driving if we're going on an excursion. I try to always be home for her long nap. I've also found if we're having a lot of fun she can skip the a.m. nap or we can abbreviate it.
