Also, sibley had all of my correct contact information but the anes group had my old address from when I delivered my first. They sent several bills to that address, never called me, and then sent the bill that I never received to a bill collection agency. The whole process was bizarre and frustrating.

That would still have you out $1200. Pretty sure the fair price for an epidural is like $200-600.

I doubt it. Anesthiolosys are very well paid. They make more than $200 for a 1/2 hours work.

what the heck. have had 4 babies with carefirst at sibley and 2 epidurals - never had a bill. this sounds like an error.

Well, I guess you're right. $2000 for the epidural that takes 15 minutes, meanwhile the vaginal delivery which takes 6, 12, 18, 24 hours is $3000. I would call it overpaid, not well paid.

In any case $6000 is a huge price gouge.

This. Also have carefirst, delivered at Sibley, and it was covered.

Same here - same plan and also Sibley.

Ditto. Only had a $50 copay. OP you should appeal.

We have a very crappy insurance plan with Carefirst, I just delivered at Sibley a couple of months ago and I paid no more than $40 for the anesthesia. Definitely give your insurance a call.

Wowwww it’s 2024 and I got a $6,000 bill from Sibley anesthesiology and searched and found this thread. They have been running this scam for years apparently! I have called, emailed, chatted their billing and they admit they shouldn’t have sent the bill but keep sending it. How many patients have they scanned out of their money?

Same.

They were not in network for my carefirst plan when I had an epidural but so I paid the out of network cost which was about $600. This was in 2022. Really interesting to see the variety of experiences on this post.

Agree that this is a scam. Sibley needs to be exposed for this.
