Would you eat indoors with a 1yo now?

Why?

He/she probably means Los Angeles County. Mask and vaccination mandates are fierce. My sister had to bring proof of vaccination to go to the theatre there to see Hamilton. Same with eating inside and all employees.

No, but that’s more because the idea of managing a 1-year-old at a restaurant sounds super exhausting and miserable than covid. Personally, I would do takeout. (In fact what I did the last time my parents were in town.)

Same. We either cook something really easy (like spaghetti and meatballs) or get takeout when mine visit. Then when the kid's attention span is up we're not in an awkward situation.

Yes. I would look at the case rates in the area first and if they were low enough, and if vaccination rates were high enough, I would be find with going to a restaurant. I would choose a restaurant with a good track record with complying with Covid regs, and ideally one that was vocal about being pro-vaccination and treated workers well (assisting them with getting vaccinated, providing good quality masks, offering sick leave and access to testing for anyone with symptoms, etc. You can usually find this information by checking their website and social media, or running a search or two on Google to see if they have any public health citations or have been any negative news around how they handle Covid.

Also, yes, assuming all involved adults are vaccinated. But that's a given if I'm going to spend time with anyone.

Frankly and selfishly, it's less about risk of severe illness to the 1 year old and more about not wanting to be excluded from day care for 10-14 days, with attendant impacts on other family members. So unless you have a SAHP that's a consideration logistically.

This is a great point, I am the pp who said I would and I’m a SAHP.

I have a 1yo and I feel the same. I'm also conscious that while technically we could weather the 10-14 exclusion since both parents still WFH and have some amount of leave - there are families in our day care who do not have that situation and could be really financially impacted by a quarantine, or who might have a high risk family member living with them. I don't want to be that guy. So for now, we are getting takeout.

No, not eating indoors in restaurants with my 2 yr old. I know the overall risk of severe COVID for her age bracket is low but I still would prefer she not get it and to me it’s just a dumb risk to take. We just do takeout when we want restaurant food. We are not super conservative - we do outdoor play dates and will take her to stores/museums masked - but being in public indoors with everyone unmasked, in a crowd that probably isn’t taking much precautions . . . not worth it to me.

Yes, it’s safe.

We do on weekends at 7 am. With preschoolers.

This is my thing. I don’t fear contagion; I fear quarantine or even symptoms and having to test and losing daycare for a few days.

Also, I have never taken a one year to a restaurant - it’s exhausting.

+1 back in the summer when the pandemic was over (😂) DH and I went to see movie in a theater and immediately caught colds. It was not worth it IMO.

No. I still haven’t eaten indoors at a restaurant myself and I’m triple vaxxed. Cases are on the rise again. I’m just starting to get comfortable with the notion of going out to dinner indoors as a vaccinated adult.

As a rule, we aren't taking our unvaccinated kids to restaurants unless there's outdoor seating. So, no. Once they're vaccinated, yes.

Absolutely and have done so many times recently.
