Newbie runner here

+1 for the Brooks Ghost line of shoes. I'm a pretty average runner with a history of minor plantar fasciitis, for what it's worth. I like some cushion in my shoes and wear orthotic inserts.

I love Brooks and have worn them for nearly 20 years. But OP, definitely go to a running store and get fitted.

Also, my knees hurt when the weather gets colder, eg, if it falls under 50. So it could be seasonal.

My fingers swell if I run 7+ miles. Its normal. Just ignore it.

Winter running is a lot harder than spring or fall running.
