You're assigning them too much responsibility. They are just one face. You should try to meet other faces. Or at least observe them. It's not hard. |
+1. Same for our DD and it was a pretty competitive interview process. |
If it’s a nerd school, sure…but as for my kid’s school, most of the tour guides are the party kids in greek life. The school wants the outgoing and well spoken kids to be the first impression, not the quiet and awkward kids. |
LOL. +1. Afraid to walk backwards. |
| Tour guides can be paid and/or get perks like early class registration, free parking, and campus food credit. |
| Years ago I was a tour guide, and it was competitive and not paid during the school year, but it allowed you to be a paid summer tour guide or have very cushy paid school-year jobs sitting at the front desk. |
Ha! |

My DC was a tour guide. It was paid and te interview/competition process was rigorous.
DC was not on financial aid fwiw. |
| I think the tour guide can make or break a kids impression of the school. Most that we have encountered have ranged between really good and great. However, one was really bad, and it was not me being a karen: my usually quiet husband said we should call the admissions office and let them know how bad it was. I did, but not to complain - to let them know that after the tour our child would not be applying, and yo gently suggest that this particular guide needed additional training |
