Bought the turkey to soon!

I personally do not go by "sell by dates" at the grocery store. Food storage is not a perfect science and it depends on so many factors whether it will still be ok for Thanksgiving or not. It could be fine but it could be spoiled too. I would cook it now and get another one for thanksgiving.

most grocery store refers, are only cold on one side and open to the air. with no insulation. and would likely be much warmer than an at home fridge with a closing door. ie maybe bottom side of turkey nice and chilled, but top side exposed to room temp.

not exactly food safe. IMO

I suspect it’s probably fine. On the other hand, it’s going to be far from “fresh” by Thanksgiving.

i don't understand what the issue is. I bought frozen turkey a week ago and put it in the freezer like I do every year. OP, do you mean your turkey was defrosted? I would still put it in the freezer.
