The school system has confirmed Department of Transportation Director Todd Watkins and DOT Assistant Director Charles Ewald are both on administrative leave. MCPS declined to clarify when it placed Watkins and Ewald on leave and if it continues to pay both of them.

Hope that it's not that endemic, but concerned it might be. Anyone know where the largest pot of relatively low-oversight money is in the system? It certainly isn't transportation -- too small.

Until there is an inspector general for MCPS’ 3 billion a year budget - like FCPS - expect more of the same. Even if these folks did nothing wrong - independent audits would actually help MCPS with their communications. Right now after so many scandals it just gets harder each day to believe even the most basic Press Release coming out of Central Office.
