It's bad AI.

Ham in the place of kosher turkey breast lunch meat.

I had to argue with Instacart, but they refunded my money for that one.

I always check no substitutions so I don’t have to watch my phone while the shopper shops. I haven’t had any weird replacements. I love Amazon Fresh. They only bring what you order.

Hopefully a one-off. I've been using Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods delivery since pre-pandemic and have rarely if ever had an issue. Wegmans or Harris Teeter though Instacart? That's truly the Wild West.

I do a TON of online groceries, both instacart and Whole Foods/Amazon. I find that 90% of the time they get everything right; every 10th time or so you seem to run into a really bad shopper who gets it all wrong. The worst does seem to be medications. I placed an Instacart order for one medication recently; and the shopper gave me a medication for literally the opposite condition.

I once ordered toilet paper, and the suggested substitution was... plastic wrap. Because it was a roll of something? And the same generic store brand?

This is why I shop myself.
