OP here. For those who have daycares with better/pre-covid hours, would you mind sharing the names of your daycares? Might help those who are looking for more flexibility |
I would ask bc my daycare shows covid hours but when I asked they said, “oh no we keep forgetting to change it we are back full time regular hours “ |
Where are you located (or wanting to find care) |
St Albans was open 7:00-6:30 before COVID. They have not returned to those hours still. ![]() |
Discovery Time in Alexandria, 7:30a-5:30pm |
They are opening after 8? That’s very late. |
Similar, they cite staffing issues. It is hard to hire childcare staff right now. They also have lower ratios than usual so it is probably a cost issue. Pre covid: 745-530 Covid hours: 8:30-4, eventually (Aug 2021?) extended 8:30-4:30 Now: 8:15 - 4:45 |
Ours is 8:30-5:00, leans early but almost all the parents work together. |
Ours opens at 8:30, closes at 5. |
Ugh, just announced moving to 8-5. Regular hours are 7-6. The reason is that they want to be able to not combine classrooms at the beginning and end of the day. They don't have the staff for separate classrooms all day long. They'd just moved back to regular hours in August 2021. I'm lucky that I'm still working from home and able to manage with the limited hours.
We were only allowed into the building for pickup and drop off a few months ago. I wonder if they'll shut that down again soon. A two year old classroom shut for two weeks a few weeks ago. And a K room closed today for two weeks. |
Our preschool was 8 to 5 (including before and aftercare).
Now: 9 to 4. ![]() |
Ours is the same as before. 7:30am to 6:30pm. Most kids are there 8:30-5ish, esp now that parents are largely wfh. |
